These photographs reflect impressions of people and places, animals and plants, and perhaps they even convey a few thoughts and feelings. The images were created and recorded in fractions of seconds. They are preserved here at this site for viewing.
An inexpensive paperback, Looking South: Photos from Mississippi and Alabama, includes many of the photographs from the gallery here, and is available. It serves as a handy, portable catalog of the work.
The menu selection for the book page also offers an e-book version. Frankly, the technical quality of the e-book is higher--but it obviously requires some sort of electronic device for viewing. While that constitutes its own form of convenience, some people feel that an digitized version lacks a certain physical charm, particularly with a photo book. Both choices are available, priced to be as accessible as possible.
"Stare. It is the way to educate your eye, and more. Stare, pry, listen, eavesdrop. Die knowing something. You are not here long." -- Walker Evans
